# Methodology

> How the grades, curtailment estimates, and scorecards are produced.

Every number on Speed to Power traces back to a documented method. The full methodology lives on the app itself and is kept in lockstep with the scoring code:

## The two-grade principle

A single "congestion" label hides more than it reveals. An area saturated with solar feed-in can still have room for a factory, and vice versa. That's why every area carries two independent grades — one for consumption, one for feed-in — and why the screener asks what kind of project you're planning.

## Honest uncertainty

Grades are derived from operator-published congestion data, not from inside knowledge of the queue. Where the underlying data is thin or stale, the dossier says so rather than papering over it. See [data sources](/data-sources) for what feeds the model and how fresh it is.
